This stage will cover the age group of 8-11 year, we will gradually introduce speaking, reading, writing through subjects.

Interactive classroom teaching with play, discovery and activity-based pedagogy. A structured subject-wise curriculum at this level through teaching of languages, science, and mathematics and holistic development through inclusion of art and physical education. School richly involves children in Discovery approach of learning which is ‘learning by doing’ through exploration of environment and manipulation of objects and materials to learn by problem solving.

Language Teaching at MVJIS

  • Language teaching is an art.
  • A language is a system of communication.
  • Students in primary school are at the age where they have just learned the Fundamentals of language and can communicate clearly.
  • Research shows that learning a different language boosts problem-solving,
  • Critical-thinking, and listening skills, in addition to improving memory, concentration, and the ability to multitask. Children proficient in other languages also show signs of enhanced creativity and mental flexibility.

At MVJIS we teach three languages namely ENGLISH, KANNADA and HINDI right from primary level. English stands as the medium of instruction. Kannada and Hindi are taught from grade -1 as per the framed curriculum.

Kannada

We abide by the language policy passed by the State Government of Karnataka. At MVJIS, we teach Kannada as either the first or second Language from grades I to X. The curriculum is designed to build on foundation stage so that students develop a firm grasp of language they learn.

At the beginning teachers emphasize on correct sequence of language learning. We first create an environment for listening, then speaking, and finally reading and writing. Thus we follow the LSRW method. Our teaching create a fun filled classroom for teaching of any language through creative ideas. We also conduct enrichment classes as a support to learners who need assistance.

At MVJIS we believe it is important for all children to be given the access and knowledge not only learn a new language, but to also gain information on geographical facts, available resources , culture, traditions and  appreciation of nature and to inculcate the spirit of nationalism and respect and protection of natural resources.

Celebrations of all the festivals of national importance as well as state wise are an utmost priority in any educational institution. AT MVJ, we focus on the holistic development of the students, hence we give equal opportunity to each one of them by involving them in the activities related to the celebrations. They actively take part with full vigor and enthusiasm playing the various roles and parts being assigned to them. All these happens under the able guidance and training of the teachers who collectively work towards it.
